16 February to 9 March 2019.
Studio open to the public on Mondays 25 February and 4 March from 1.00pm to 3.00pm

Lynda Cronin’s large drawings are influenced by the landscape and everything in between, found objects combine with amorphous forms to create an inner mindscape of things. The effect is vibrant, large gestural strokes where mark making and colour thrives.

For her residency at Uillinn, Lynda will continue her exploration of drawing as an expressive medium, using large sheets of paper as surface. The intent is to walk and be engaged with the landscape and surrounds and through this submersion, begin to develop works that reflect this place.

For her Pencil Prose Interventions in Cuba, selected excerpts from poetry by inspirational Cuban women poets were written on to the side of HB pencils and arbitrarily distributed throughout the city; in parks, artist studios, on buildings and on cars. Some were picked up as soon as they were placed and others may have been there for quite some time before being discovered. Lynda plans to engage in a similar undertaking while in Skibbereen using her daughter’s ‘Shorts from the Fort’ a reflection on family, as part of the Pencil Prose project this time.

West Cork Arts Centre is proud to be supported by the Arts Council and Cork County Council.
