Dorota Borowa Studio Exhibition
Saturday 1 March
10am to 1pm
You are welcome to join us in Studio 3 on Saturday, March 1st, anytime between 10am and 1pm, for a studio exhibition by artist-in-residence Dorota Borowa. She will be showcasing her immersive installation before beginning the deconstruction process at 1pm. At that time, Dorota will start dismantling the installation and washing away her charcoal drawings from the wall – an integral part of the work. You are also welcome to stay and witness this transformation or even take part in it.
During her time at the Uillinn Residency, Dorota was preparing for two upcoming solo exhibitions by creating large-scale, site-responsive drawing installations that engage directly with the studio space. She explored the challenges and performative aspects of creating an immersive, “live” project within a set timeframe that blurs the boundaries between art, architecture, and nature. Her work features a series of “Water Drawings” on paper, prepared in collaboration with water beforehand, and hung directly on the studio walls. She extended them into the space with charcoal drawings on the walls and floor. The removal of the installation will explore the tension between holding on and letting go, questioning whether the act of drawing could be a form of preparation to erase it.
Dorota Borowa is a Polish artist based in Kerry. She works across a range of media, including drawing, printmaking, video, site-specific works and a performance, an area of growing interest. Rather than depicting nature, she seeks to collaborate with it. In this way she explores her own relationship with the natural world.
