Many of us struggle to sustain our painting practice — we love it, yet it’s often side lined when life takes over. This course offers a fresh start for 2026, providing a supportive framework for an ongoing personal and sustainable creative practice, alongside essential fundamentals that can be applied to any style or medium. Suitable for all levels of experience.Individual and group exercises, (along with chat and coffee), will help you:
• Discover your subject through a regular journal or sketchbook practice
• Develop a unique and personal language of marks
• Understand tone and composition, and how they can guide your work
• Learn the essentials of working with colour, including value, complementary relationships, harmony, saturation, and temperature
• Explore texture, glazing, transfers, mixed media, collage, and mono-printing
• Benefit from working with an experienced, empathetic tutor within a small, supportive group of like-minded artists (maximum 8 in group).
