Mark Beatty 2018

Mark Beatty
Drift Junkie – The Things We Threw Away
29 January to 21 April 2018

Studio open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays and by appointment.

I plan to collect discarded coloured plastic material from the surrounding Cork coastline and use it to compose a three dimensional drawing. It is as much the ritualistic collection of pollen to make honey, as it is the honey itself that constitutes the life of a worker bee.

‘The activity of drawing is a way of trying to understand who we are or how we operate in the world,’                                                                                                                                               William Kentridge.

It is my hope that, through the salvation and use of materials familiar to us all, I can highlight something happening locally and prompt conversation about making, what we value in life, and the things we throw away.
