The Palestine Postcard Project

An artist-led international initiative, The Palestine Postcard Project, launches on Saturday, 18 October at 2pm at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre. Conceived by Mich Maroney, Creative Director of Swerve Magazine (County Cork), the project brings together over 1,500 original postcard-sized artworks, donated by artists from Ireland and across the globe.

Each postcard will be sold at a fixed price of €50, offering buyers a chance to own a unique piece of art while contributing directly to humanitarian aid. All proceeds will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which continues to provide critical support to the people of Palestinian. All postcards are signed on the reverse, making the exhibition something of a blind auction, ensuring that each piece of work is chosen on its own merit and meaning.

The collection reflects a remarkable collaborative act of solidarity within the creative community, with contributions spanning painting, print, drawing, collage, illustration and textile. Every artwork, though modest in scale, carries a powerful message of empathy and hope.

Mich Maroney, Creative Director of Swerve Magazine was stunned by the response: “This project is about artists using their creativity as an act of compassion. The response has been quite frankly, overwhelming—more than 1,500 works have been donated, each one unique, each one a tangible act of unity and resistance linking artists and audiences across the globe.”The launch at Uillinn will provide the first public opportunity to view and purchase the postcards.

The Palestine Postcard Project exhibition will run at Uillinn for a limited time, with the aim of raising vital funds, while celebrating the role of art as a force for solidarity and change.
