Uillinn at Fastnet Film Festival 2025

Uillinn Screen Dance presents MA (2016), selected by West Cork Dance Artist in Residence Luke Murphy and introduced by Justine Foster, Programme Manager at West Cork Arts Centre. Celia’s award winning debut feature, MA, is a spellbinding dialogue free film following a virgin mother’s pilgrimage to Las Vegas to give birth. Premiering at the Venice Film Festival after a MoMA PS1 screening it screened at 40+ festivals worldwide, earning multiple awards. Hailed as ‘brazen and beautiful’ (Hammer to Nail), MA was theatrically released in NYC, Chicago and LA in 2017. The MA screening takes place in the Plaza (Church of Ireland Hall) P81 Y284 at 13:45.

Part of the Local Interest Programme in The Garden of the old Convent grounds – FFF headquarters P81 E627 from 15:30 to 16:35 will be Lalor – The Printmaker, a film made by Stephen Agnew and Jessica Mallalieu in which a filmmaker asks a printmaker about art. Some of which was filmed during Brian’s Retrospective exhibition here at Uillinn in 2024.

Also screening in the shorts is the Town That Has Nurtured My Dreams a film created by Justin Grounds with the residents of Skibbereen Community Hospital as part of his Arts for Health, West Cork weekly sessions. In 2024, residents of Skibbereen Community Hospital and composer Justin Grounds compose a song celebrating their town.
