For dance artists seeking a studio residency at Uillinn  (UCC and Bollinger Family Space) in 2027

Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre is seeking expressions of interest from dancers, choreographers and dance companies wishing to realise their work from idea to performance at Uillinn Dance Studio.

The dance studio provides space for artists to engage in a programme of work to interact with other artists in residence, exhibiting artists, our public and our unique rural location at research, development and production stages.

Uillinn provides a vibrant creative hub and an extensive programme of exhibitions, performances and events. There is a strong emphasis on making connections, networking and working with our geographical, social and community contexts. Priority is given to artists who show a strong commitment to the public and audiences and proposals that show relevance to our venue location and facilities.

The Residency programme offers practical support including studio space, key holder privileges, wifi, technical and administrative support. The Dance Studio is located on Level 3 of Uillinn, is 56 metres square and is fully accessible throughout. It is double height and equipped with a sprung wooden floor, marley, mirrors, barre and sound system. A changing room with a shower is available on Level 4. Weekend and evening access can be facilitated.

This is a non-accommodation residency. Uillinn does not offer a stipend for the duration of these studio Research or Production Residency Awards. We recommend that artists apply to their own Arts Councils, Local Authorities etc to source funding for accommodation, travel and expenses. HOW TO APPLY:

Applications are currently being accepted for residencies taking place in 2027

Applicants should send their proposal as one PDF 

APPLICATION SHOULD INCLUDE:

1. An up-to-date CV with accessible links to at least two video examples of work and up to four still images of previous work (jpegs no larger than 2mb each) 

2. Your proposal should include:

ABOUT YOU and YOUR PRACTICE: A short biography

ABOUT YOUR PROPOSED RESIDENCY: A brief description of your plans for the residency.

WHY UILLINN: Your reasons for choosing Uillinn (e.g., environment, culture, multidisciplinary network, rural setting, retreat, local links). Please also note any ways you will consider our climate‑action and sustainable‑practice goals.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT: As Uillinn places public engagement at its core, please describe how you propose to meet this objective with relevance to your practice and our community. For example with a sharing of work in progress, workshop for a specific group, a masterclass, talk, discussion, filmscreening or social media activity.

DATES AND DURATION: When in 2027 you wish to take up residency and the number of studio days you are seeking (typically 5–10 days if you are not within commuting distance; longer stays possible with local accommodation). If you are flexible, prefer a block etc. 

3. If your proposal involves other artists, please include their details. The studio best suits small companies or solo practitioners with guests.

4. Uillinn Studio Residency Award is for studio only, please state if you intend to apply for funding to support your residency (eg. AC or CCC etc) have you already, or do not require funding

The Dance Studio programme is also accessed through Invited Submissions which comprise a Dance Artist in Residency Programme (Luke Murphy 2021 - 2025); Dance Company in Residence (Croí Glan 2022 - 2025); Associate Artist Programme (Elaine McCague 2024 - 2026, Chloe Pisco 2026 and Tara Brandel 2026) and an Access Dance Development Awards (with up to 10 days studio time, stipend, assistant and accommodation allowance) for an artist with a disability.
