Whispers from the Celtic Grove
National Heritage Week 2026

An immersive sound and photographic installation by David Bickley and Niamh O’Sullivan in The Courtyard Gallery

Step into Whispers from the Celtic Grove, an immersive art commission by multidisciplinary artist David Bickley, created in partnership with NPWS and CECAS. This artwork consists of nine listening posts, each one representing a native Irish tree; Rowan, Ash, Oak, Birch, Willow, Alder, Holly, Hazel, Hawthorn, and brings its story to life through sound. Scan the QR codes with your phone, and you’ll enter a bespoke soundscape: field recordings, folklore, and ambient tones rooted in the spirit of each tree.

Open to all. Free. Headphones recommended.

Presented by local non-profit, Green Skibbereen, with artwork by David Bickley, funded by NPWS as part of the Peatlands and Natura Public Engagement Scheme.
