Rima Baransi
Conduit research and development.
8 to 13 December 2024
Conduit is an evolving exploration, a profound inquiry into the depths of our roots. Emerging from an essence of fluidity, this research examines processes of renewal and sensory perception. It unfolds as a journey of rebirth and sensory awakening.
During this residency, my aim is to delve beyond where I am today into the research for Conduit, an evolving inquiry into the intersection of non-Western bodies in Western spaces. I seek to create a space of curiosity and play, experimenting with new materials and approaches. My objectives are to explore how these elements interact with concepts of rebirth and sensory awakening, and to uncover new pathways for expression. I also hope to find spaces and communities that resonate with these themes, engaging in an open dialogue about movement, identity, and belonging.
I see this residency as an opportunity to build meaningful connections with the local community. Through workshops, open rehearsals, and discussions, I hope to engage with people who are interested in exploring cultural hybridity and identity through movement. I will encourage participants to reflect on their own experiences while creating a collaborative space for curiosity and experimentation.
"Curiosity opens the door to transformation. Through movement, we explore untold stories, play with new possibilities, and create spaces where identity can unfold freely."
