Sarah McNulty
My Creative Bubble
6 January to 1 February 2025
Studio open to the public on Tuesday, Thursday
This residency will enable me to explore my different interests in producing art for an upcoming exhibition. I have produced some digital art works, along with my acrylic paintings. I tend to work on one theme/subject matter for a period of time. I look forward to exploring and expanding on this while I am at Uillinn.
In the Spring of 2025 the Connecting Artists Collective will be holding an exhibition in the RHA in Dublin. I will use my time in Uillinn to work on pieces for this exhibition. This group has had many interesting workshops and I will have a variety of options to choose from.
I have been very lucky with the groups I have been connected with, as each one has been a wonderful learning curve. And I have had opportunities which may have otherwise passed me by. Here in Clonakilty, at the Community Resource Centre art class, I was encouraged to hold my first exhibition.
Pauline Walsh's art classes completely opened up a relaxed way to access my creativity and love of colour. During her Culture Night exhibitions, I sold some of my work.
My classes at No.49 North Street, with Rebecca Keyser were another stepping stone. To be part of that exhibition was special.
The Connecting Artists 2024 has been a wonderful journey and education, and reinforcement of my belief in my ability.
Creating art makes me feel good. The journey has been easier because I have had great encouragement and support. Art should never be judged only enjoyed. Everyone should try it, there is no right or wrong, just joy.
My name is Sarah McNulty, I am 30 years of age and I live in Clonakilty. My first experience of art was with Terry O'Farrell the wonderful ceramics teacher. When I moved to West Cork at the end of "lockdown", I became interested in painting beach stones. Here in Clonakilty, I attend classes with the Pauline Walsh.
For the last three years, I have won 1st prize in my category in the Clonakilty/Dunmanway credit union art competition. In 2022 my painting went on to represent Cork. It was of Michael D Higgins.
I was very privileged to be chosen as part of the Connecting Artists 2024. This has been an amazing experience for me.
In early spring, as part of Connections Arts Centre my work will be on display in the RHA in Dublin.
