Sharon Dipity & E.R. Murray
Conversations Between Two Typewriters – Part 3
Studio 1
05 January to 25 February 2026
Open Studio Days: Monday and Friday
A studio residency to explore connections between the written word and mark making, and the potential of artists books as a form of presentation.
Building on the visual poems and artists books prototypes that emerged towards the end of our collaborative residencies in July 2025 and January 2024, we will explore the relationship between words and images and how they impact each other as catalysts for new work.
Through conversations between two Brother Deluxe manual typewriters, our investigations will include ink drawings, visual poems, poetry, prose, and artists books.
“My practice is enveloped in the process, it is experimental and playful often embracing chance. Words are often an important part of my visual arts practice. Collaborating with Elizabeth in this residency will allow me to explore the relationship between word and image in new ways.” Sharon dipity
“Writing is often driven by constraints such as deadlines, word counts, and publication demands, so space for play is minimal. Visual arts is part of my creative process, but not usually linked to my writing, and so this residency allows me to blur boundaries and explore new ways of working.” E. R. Murray
Throughout the residency we will have open studio days and at the end of our residency, we will share our findings.
