St. Patrick’s Day Community Art Project

Sylwia Migdal

21 January to 28 February 2026

An inclusive community art project for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This projects aims to create a colourful, hand-crafted snake inspired by traditional Chinese forms, symbolising peace, transformation, and togetherness.

Participants of all ages can help build the large parade snake, make wearable snake headpieces, and take part in the parade itself. No artistic experience needed—just enthusiasm!

This residency will focus on the art project for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Get in touch to find out details of the workshops learning@westcorkartscentre.com or info@westcorkartscentre.com 02822090

About the Project
The central artwork will be a large, flowing snake that moves through the parade—alive with colour, texture, and collective creativity. Representing resilience, harmony, and hope, the snake invites reflection on unity during uncertain times.

Alongside the main installation, participants will create small wearable snake headpieces, allowing many people to embody the spirit of the snake and take part directly in the parade. The result will be an interactive, joyful experience for both creators and audiences.
